Tuesday January 11th 2022 - 7PM EST
What will I learn in the Class?
Mark Gostkiewicz, the Co-Founder of Tri Gable Lea Farm LLC will be presenting this class. Mark has been keeping bees since 2014. In this fun class, he'll walk-through a bunch of projects large and small that you can use to help native pollinators & why you may want to become a backyard beekeeper.
In this class we will discuss...
- The joys of keeping bees - discussing why people fall in love with this hobby
- The differences between native pollinators vs honeybees: Lifecycle, instincts, and basic needs
- How you can better support honey bees vs how you can better support native pollinators
- Simple planting projects to increase diversity
- Simple building projects to provide shelter
- The need for honey bees vs the need for natives - how we can strike a balance
- Bigger projects garden clubs and conservation associations can take on to support native pollinators.
- Curated resources/recommendations for further learning & engagement
